EFA Spitzenkandidatin Maylis Roßberg was in Klagenfurt (Carinthia) to debate how young people engage in European Elections.
The European Union elections, often plagued by low turnout, are a unique opportunity for people from diverse regions and minority groups to make their voices heard on the political stage. The upcoming elections are an opportunity for those seeking to make their mark in European politics.
Some of these unheard citizens that will take their voices to the ballots on June are the young Europeans. This is why our Spitzenkandidatin, Maylis Roßberg spoke last weekend in an event in Klagenfurt, Carinthia, directed to young audience. Roßberg focused on young participation in politics and in the European elections, and promoted the idea that every young person from the EU should have the opportunity to engage with European institutions and make their voice heard.
“Participation in #EUelections is one of the lowest, but this is also a chance for people from different regions, from different minorities to make their statement”
Maylis Roßberg | EFA Spitzenkandidatin
In response to questions from the audience about the rise of the far-right, EFA lead candidate explained that turning to the far-right is not an option even for those who may not be satisfied with the current direction of the EU. Therefore, we need political forces like EFA, those that push towards a better EU by going deep into its democratic values and diversity recognition, instead of going backwards.
“The minorities are who suffer the most under the far-right, and EFA is the only political party that can stand up for their democratic rights,”
Maylis Roßberg | EFA Spitzenkandidatin
